Hey there! This is CERISYLIA, but you may call me Cerys [kair-iss]. I use she/her pronouns. If you care about it, I’m an INFJ and a 9w1.
Who are you?
I’m in my twenties, from Canada, and an aspiring content creator. I love stories and the many ways they can be told, and with that love comes a desire to create something that encapsulates all the emotions I’ve experienced from other people’s storytelling.
My favourite things in media include stories where characters work towards making a dream come true, magical realism, found families, and character-driven narratives with growth & a lot of heart and care (and maybe a pinch of angst, because I love when there are implications). I enjoy expansive worlds, interactions & dialogues that make you think, stories that make you feel, and all the moments in between. As I like to say, if a piece of media’s main message is “love”, I’m likely to be obsessed with it.
I grew up playing the piano, and when I was younger, I had wanted to become a writer (I read a lot back then). Music has always been an integral part of my life, and I spent most of my practice time playing by ear and improvising little tunes rather than learning the required exam pieces… CERISYLIA aims to combine all of my artistic passions: works where music informs art inspires writing.
During the day, I have a full-time job in a non-creative field. I work on CERISYLIA during my free time, where it is both a passion project and a creative outlet. For me, my day job offers me stability and tickles my brain in a different (and to me, necessary) way, while my creative pursuits lets me express myself and what I love.
Why do I create?
Of all the reasons to why I want to create, there are two underlying aspirations to my creative work that form the core of the CERISYLIA project. The first is to thank my favourite creators for inspiring me with their works. I want to create fan and derivative content, to connect to others who feel the same way, and to inform my own original works with what I loved from theirs.
The other wish is to become one of these creators for someone else. The name CERISYLIA is inspired by two words: cerulean and elysium. A sky-blue paradise. I want my work to resonate: to evoke a sense of wonder, intrigue; of whimsy, wanderlust and magic. To make others feel things—for that breathless feeling I am so familiar with when I myself am fully immersed in a world and its characters that a storyteller had so carefully built.
I hope I am able to craft experiences that will leave you with a yearning, and to perhaps one day desire to pick up the brush yourself.
What will you post here?
Other than a landing page, my website doubles as a blog, where I will be posting the following:
- Works: Behind-the-scenes commentary on original and fan content.
- Process: A more traditional, blog-style posting on my creative process: gear, favourite tools, systems, and progress posts on my journey in improving and honing my artistic skills.
- Updates: For all kinds of updates relating to the projects I’m currently working on.
Where can I find you?
YouTube is the home of my polished, more ambitious works, whereas Instagram is a showcase of all my projects, big and small, that I work on throughout the year. Twitter is more for informal updates and unpolished posts, as well as connecting with my audience. You can access all of these through the social links on the website. I also have a Tumblr that I intend on cross-posting with, but that… is a work in progress.
You can also find me via Carrd. (Yes, I’m aware I have a website, but what can you say? I’m really happy with how my Carrd looks.)
