Beautiful People x Let Me Love You

After Hey Brother x Brother, I started my personal playlist of “songs I swear are in the same key”. Usually, I find I’m pretty good at identifying them—though I don’t have perfect pitch, my relative pitch serves me well, and I can usually sing a song back in the correct key because I can hear it in my head. I don’t think this is a unique skill, but it comes in handy sometimes.

Beautiful People x Let Me Love You came out of an “aha!” moment when I realized the two were in the same key. Most of my medleys are in the same key and have chord progressions that work well together, since it simplifies my arranging process. These two songs happened to mesh beautifully together, and to this day this remains to be one of my favourite medleys I’ve done.

With this one, I tried spicing up some of the chords as well. I’m afraid the little music theory I learned in high school has all but escaped my mind, but I like some of the chord choices I made here, even though they were added in purely on the basis of “this sounds neat”. (Which is the case for most of my arrangements, until I decide to learn music theory seriously.)
